The summer months in Thailand bring extremely hot temperatures, which makes packing a breeze since you basically only need a swimsuit and a cover-up! However, during the winter months, the weather changes slightly and depending on where you are, you will need a few warmer clothes.
What to Pack for a Fabulous Winter Trip to Thailand
You will definitely want to bring a light jacket with you to areas in Northern Thailand. Pants will also be helpful, and sneakers, or hiking boots, are a must if you plan on doing any hiking or wandering around.
Down in the southern parts of this country, you can still wear shorts and flip flops, but you may want to take long sleeves and pants for those nights when you are still out on the town.
If you plan on seeing both southern and northern parts of the islands during your winter getaway, you will want to pack a little of everything. Don’t worry, you won’t need any winter gear, just enough to keep you from feeling chilled, especially when you are up in the mountains!
Sights to See During a Fabulous Winter Trip to Thailand
Father’s Day in Thailand is different than the Father’s Day that is celebrated in the United States. This celebration is held on December 5th every year and it is a day to honor the late King Bhumibol.
Lunar New Year
While many festivals in Thailand are held in the spring and the fall, this is the one that you must attend during the winter months. It will be more expensive to travel to Thailand when this festival is being held, but it will be worth it to see all the parades, lion dances, and stage shows.
The Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is an excellent attraction to see at any time of the year, but it turns more magical during the winter months. There will still be crowds at The Grand Palace, but the massive square footage of this attraction will leave you plenty of space to wander around.
Any of the Markets
Shopping can be fun all year round, but it is definitely better when you are not roasting from the heat! Wander around the markets on the streets or choose to experience shopping in a new way at one of the floating markets.
Thailand can be a lot of fun to explore during the winter months, as long as you pack accordingly and have a plan. So, create your plan now and then have a wonderful time exploring the different islands of this country!
